Joint Promotion of Dutch Research in Beijing

Last weekend NOST China supported Academic Transfer and Neso China in organizing the ‘Holland Science House’ for the 3rd year in a row which is a temporary information centre at the PhD Workshop in the Swissotel Beijing. In this dedicated Dutch space Chinese PhD candidates can obtain information about research and more specifically PhD opportunities in the Netherlands from PhD alumni and Dutch experts.
Holland Science HouseThis year almost 30 Dutch professors and researchers from 7 Dutch universities attended the PhD Workshop to conduct face to face interviews with pre-selected Chinese PhD candidates from the top universities in China.

At the end of the first day two presentations were held in the ‘Holland House’ by Dutch professor Paul Hoebink from Radboud University Nijmegen and Dr. Liu Xiaoling from Tsinghua University to explain about the characteristics of research in Holland. After the presentations, the Dutch professors had an informal talks with their Chinese candidates to continue their interview or convince them to opt for the Netherlands during a reception organized by Academic Transfer and NOST China.

Prior to the PhD Workshop, NOST China organized a mini-seminar at the Netherlands Embassy on PhD Education in China and the Netherlands for the Dutch delegation, including a presentation by the China Scholarship Council on the expected changes in the University Postgraduate Scholarship Program for 2014.
