The chemical industry becomes more and more advanced and process optimization is improving the utilization of resources. This transition is leading towards cleaner and safer operations. As in other industries, the digitization of the chemical sector is a strong enabler in this process. Within this data-intensive framework, companies outside the traditional chemical industry now add value to chemical processes, and chemical companies become more integrated in downstream applications. This direction generates a lot of potential, which can only be released by connecting stakeholders in the industry. In today’s program, the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, in collaboration with the Holland Innovation Network, facilitates a discussion between Chinese and Dutch experts,
Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP) hosts a large number of MNCs and national (petrochemical) companies in Chemistry. The East China University of Science and Technology is situated close by. The original reason to establish this park was to collect scattered enterprises in one place. Thereby the development of domestic enterprises was boosted and international players have been attracted.
Today, the park focuses more on high-tech, market-compatible companies that fulfil the needs for Shanghai. SCIP is connecting to many other industries connect, such as automotive and information/ communication technologies, and has the ambition to open its own R&D centre.
